The Plant Garden, for the romantics

It is the oldest botanical garden in France! Come and recharge your batteries in the heart of this nature and the bustle of Montpellier, through these alleys designed in the 16th century. The Jardin des Plantes of Montpellier is home to unusual trees that are hundreds of years old: such as the silver apricot tree, or the phillyrea latifolia. Legend has it that centuries ago, the gnarled trunk of the latter was used as a hiding place for lovers who secretly exchanged letters. Paul Valéry himself liked to come and seek inspiration in this garden with its many varieties of roses... It is a truly timeless place, between tropical greenhouses and birdsong.

A visit to the royal place of Peyrou, an emblematic place of Montpellier, is a must. Very popular with strollers, this place is decorated with a beautiful French garden. The Place de la Comédie

The Saint-Pierre cathedral

Built in the 14th century, the church was erected as a cathedral in the middle of the 16th century. It is the only church dated from the Middle Ages that was not destroyed during the wars of religion. Particularly impressive with its enormous pillars, its porch with baldachin and its three high towers, the Saint-Pierre cathedral is a most spectacular Gothic monument. A conservatory of anatomy as unusual as fascinating

On the program, more than 13 000 pieces exposed to the curious: deformed lungs, livers, hearts, skulls, organs... Thousands of authentic specimens preserved in jars, in the name of medical science. Even the galleries of this small museum of horrors are impressive, with their large marble colonnades and portraits of famous doctors.
